road trip

It took 3 days but we finally got to Redding, California.

Saying Goodbye :-(

Saying Goodbye is very, very hard for us. I would rather sneak out in the middle of the night then have to acknowledge that it is going to be a very long time until we see our family and friends again. We will miss all of you that we have come to know and we count each of you as our family. Thank you for everything, we love you! We are excited that we have several people wanting to come over to Senegal and I look forward to what God has planned for each one of us and the positive changes we can make in Africa as well as in ourselves. Love you!! And now we get to spend the summer in California before flying to Africa on August 8th.

Cat's are going to Ohio!!!

Our hearts are hurting now because we had to take our 2 cats, Butter and Peanut to my brother's in Ohio. We know the cats are happier to roam around in a beautiful setting outside then they were in a small apartment being kept indoors but it's still hard to let them go. They have been part of our family for over 9 years. Now as we go to Africa and dealing with their wildlife our cats are getting to play with 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 goats and 4 horses. Peanut adjusted right away but it took Butter longer but by the time we left they were already running the ranch! Regan took it the hardest but we know that their new babysitters Wyatt and Samantha will pet them and love them until we come back to the states and bring them back home. Estate Garage Sale!!

Well we did it. We had our movers take all of our items from the storage units (2) and it took 2 moving trucks to haul all of our stuff up to Abiding Faith Baptist Church in Ft. Calhoun. We filled it to extreme! Two rooms to the side had the clothes (kids and adults), shoes and toys. I said goodbye to my large collection of cookbooks and it felt so good! We had a lot of large items and we were so nervous about everything going because we only had 2 days to sell it all. It all had to be gone by Friday evening so we could leave Saturday for Ohio to bring the cats to my brothers, I was so nervous I actually was throwing up Wednesday morning worrying about how we were going to do it all, God is Good!!! I hate to admit it but there is so much more that is not photographed. Washer and Dryer, 2 large freezers, exercise equip, whole 5 piece living room set, all of Mikes office furniture,5 bedroom sets and so so much more. We only had about 15 boxes left to donate, it was almost all clothing, and it was a miracle. Look at all of our stuff?? I didn't know I was a hoarder :-) I want to say a special Thanks to my wonderful in-laws Fred and Margaret as well as Grace and Shelby Gerken and Chris and Becky Eastman. We could not have done the garage sale without each and everyone of you. It takes a truly great friend to sort through all of the junk we had and not just walk out. Thank you and we love you!!
