We finally had an opportunity to go to the beach this past weekend and even jet ski. We had so much fun! The thing is I have been to ponds, lakes, rivers, and oceans and never have I entered into a large body of water and it was so warm. This Ocean was like bath water! That should be enough to show you how hot it gets here.

It's What!!!
Okay, when we were planning on moving here we read up on all the icky, yucky things that might come with this new adventure of ours. Sure we have to take malaria medicine every day, gotta bleach the fruit and veggies, can't drink the water. But when I read about these worms that are in the ground and they can get inside you that really grossed me out and I swore that it would not happen to us. My kids will always have their feet covered and will stay out of wet dirt. Uh huh that didn't work out so well.
It first started with these puss blisters on Regan's toe. We thought it was poison Ivy (silly Americans) so we kept putting anti itch cream on it then once it spread and opened we put Neosporin on it. It went on for several weeks (!!!) until I ran into our school nurse and asked her to look at it. She immediately knew it was worms and had us give her medicine 2 times a day for 3 days and then it was gone.
She even pointed out to me the track marks!!

Poor Regan, what a trooper! She was great through the whole thing and even gave me permission to post this. Now I need to just keep shoes on the girl :)

6th Grade Bake Sale and DA Newspaper
This is the school newspaper. I've had a few people tell me I should post this for others to read about DA. I posted it on facebook and people read it and loved the inside look at the school. So here you go!

6th grade put on a bake sale and raised 165,000cfa ($330.00). It is going to help the Talibe mission. Regan is the Student Representative for her grade. She really went out and sold the bake sale.

Mosquitos
Yeah mosquitoes are not fun. Poor Regan has gotten it the worst, it also doesn't help that she can't leave them alone. These pictures were just taken and believe it or not this looks so much better then they have been. I pray that these don't leave permanent scars.
We got internet!!!
I'm so happy, we got internet and a working oven last week and I have been using both constantly :) It was an ordeal but it finally got worked out. We had our friend Jill, who speaks fluent French, come and help and after what felt like months (7 1/2 weeks) we finally got it!

It's October
Ever since we arrived in August we have had people tell us it's not really hot yet, wait for October! Since we are so close to the equator it is hot anyway but for some reason October is the hottest month of all. There is no breeze and just the unrelenting sun. I have been dreading October but we are in it now and there was a good breeze going today. I won't be fooled thinking that it's going to be like this all month long but at least the start of October hasn't been bad.
And thank you so much for the prayers and concerns of the Senegalese. Thankfully water is being restored and some areas of town have begun to receive water again!
